Juventus vs. Lazio Game Time Thread

Even if it is a game that has no meaning for Juventus, it is likely to be an emotional day.

There will almost certainly be times today when tears fill up in your eyes and run down your cheeks. I don’t blame you; it’s the day we bid farewell to two long-serving players from the previous decade (and more).

We said our goodbyes to Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini today, with a special item added to the brand new 2022-23 that the senior side will debut against Lazio this evening. It’s a day to bid goodbye to Chiellini’s vice-captain, Paulo Dybala, who will play his final home match in a Juventus shirt before joining a new club on a free transfer this summer.

These two players have contributed greatly to Juventus throughout their stay in Turin. They’re two of the best players to put on this shirt in the last decade (or more), and they’ve both worn the captain’s armband a lot since the 2018-19 season.

It’s a night to honour them, to hope that they accomplish some good, and to watch them be showered with an ovation when they’re subbed off for the final time.

Because so many people like these two individuals, it’ll undoubtedly be an emotional evening. I’m sure I will, and I’m typing this line a few hours before it all happens. You probably will, too, since you’ve got one of the finest defenders in history and one of Juventus’ all-time top goal scorers waving farewell to the Bianconero fans to whom they’ve given so much throughout their time there.

We’ll get to watch Giorgio Chiellini and Paulo Dybala on the same field as Juventus players for one final encounter. Even though this is one step closer to the end of a terrible season, that is something to treasure.
